Assemblymember Harabedian’s Resolution Urging Federal Aid for Los Angeles Fire Survivors Passes Senate Committee

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Today, Assemblymember John Harabedian (D–Pasadena) announced that Assembly Join Resolution (AJR) 27 Federal Disaster Aid: 2025 Los Angeles Fires, has passed the Senate Committee on Emergency Management.

The resolution calls on the President of the United States to do the right thing and facilitate full aid to the Americans of Los Angeles who were devastated by the Eaton and Palisades fires in January 2025. AJR 27 also calls on Congress to act and provide the funds that will support the Americans of L.A. County who have endured unimaginable loss if the President won’t act.

“The Eaton Fire changed lives across our district in a matter of hours, and many families are still facing an uncertain road to recovery,”  said Assemblymember John Harabedian (D-Pasadena). “AJR 27 calls on federal leaders to put politics aside and stand with the communities that continue to rebuild from this devastating disaster.”

This AJR carries bipartisan support with state and congressional legislators as California’s congressional representatives have called for unity and support of Los Angeles as Governor Newsom’s requests to the federal government fall on deaf ears.

AJR 27 will now advance and be heard on the Senate floor.
