(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Today, Assemblymember John Harabedian (D-Pasadena) and his Assembly colleagues declined to pass SB 492 - the wildfire fund reauthorization program. Assemblymember Harabedian responded:

(SACRAMENTO, CA) –  Assemblymember John Harabedian (D-Pasadena) announced today that four bills aimed at helping wildfire survivors rebuild and recover have passed the California State Legislature and are now headed to Governor Newsom’s desk.

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – After six months of negotiations, Assemblymember John Harabedian (D-Pasadena) announced that his bill, AB 1642, will finally create the nation’s first scientific testing standards for when a residential property is cleared to inhabit post-wildfire. The bill is now contingent with AB 1795 (Gipson) which requires insurers to abide by the AB 1642 testing standards for properties within the wildfire impact zone.

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – AB 2576, an important housing and historic protection bill by Assemblymember John Harabedian (D-Pasadena), has passed the California State Legislature as a follow-up measure to SB 79 (Wiener). When SB 79 was signed into law last year, mandating local zoning changes to build more housing near transit, it left out protections for the many buildings and neighborhoods that have made California a beacon of history and culture for decades.

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Civil litigants in Los Angeles County often wait months or even years for their cases to be resolved as the nation’s largest trial court continues to face overwhelming caseloads. AB 1950 aims to help delays by expanding the court’s ability to order mediations in civil cases, helping reach resolutions more quickly while reducing strain on the court system. Under current law, the court's authority to order mediation is limited by the amount in dispute. AB 1950 removes that limitation, allowing Los Angeles Superior Court to order mediation in any civil case when appropriate.
