Edison Reaps Record Profits After Devastating Altadena in the Eaton Fire; Asm. Harabedian Responds
(ALTADENA, CA) – Nineteen people died in the Eaton Fire. Homes were destroyed. Families are still struggling to rebuild their lives. And yet Edison’s top executives received massive pay raises. Today, the Los Angeles Times reported Southern California Edison’s executive pay has risen substantially despite the devastating Eaton Fire. Executive bonuses are tied to financial performance rather than safety. While entire communities were devastated and families faced unimaginable losses, the executives responsible were rewarded for profit rather than accountability.
Assemblymember John Harabedian (D-Pasadena) issued the following statement:
“In the year following the Eaton Fire, Edison’s executives and shareholders took home millions, driven by record profits 200% higher than 2024, a 20% rise in CEO pay, and a 6% increase in dividends, despite little to no accountability for the company’s safety record. Yet, my constituents are fighting every day just to stay off the street as they try to put their lives back together from the damage Edison’s equipment likely caused."
"I look forward to the release of new recommendations relating to the Wildfire Fund in the coming weeks and taking action based on those recommendations to ensure that fire survivors and other ratepayers are not on the hook while company executives and shareholders take in more and more profits for themselves.”
