Assemblymember John Harabedian Recognizes Planned Parenthood CEO Sheri Bonner as AD41 Woman of the Year

Sheri Bonner has served the San Gabriel Valley community for over 30 years with Planned Parenthood

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Assemblymember John Harabedian (D-Pasadena) has announced that Sheri Bonner, CEO of Planned Parenthood Pasadena & San Gabriel Valley (PPPSGV), has been named Assembly District 41’s Woman of the Year and was honored on the Assembly Floor in Sacramento this afternoon.

Sheri Bonner has served with PPPSGV for 32 years in various roles and has led the organization as CEO since 2004. In addition to the local affiliate, Sheri has been involved in national and statewide leadership positions with Planned Parenthood, which includes time as Chair of the Affiliate Chief Executives Council and the California Planned Parenthood Affiliates Education Foundation.

Sheri was the 2015 recipient of the Ruth Green Award, which is presented annually to a CEO selected for their outstanding contributions to the Planned Parenthood mission and is the highest honor in Planned Parenthood’s organization. She will be retiring this month and leaves behind a legacy of service and advocacy that will continue to inspire community leaders for generations to come.

“Sheri has been a champion for healthcare access and reproductive rights across the San Gabriel Valley and beyond for decades,” said Assemblymember Harabedian. “Her devotion to the patients of Planned Parenthood knows no bounds, and she is truly deserving of this special recognition in honor of her lifetime of service to our community.”

“I am honored that Assemblymember Harabedian has chosen me as Woman of the Year,” said Sheri Bonner. “As my time with PPPSGV comes to a close, I am thankful for the many community members and leaders who have supported me in this critical work to provide each patient who walks through our doors with the best possible care. I look forward to continuing my work in advocacy and partnering with champions like Assemblymember Harabedian to expand access to safe and legal abortion and other essential health services in California.”

The California State Legislature first recognized March as Women’s History Month in 1987 and has since continued the tradition. Each year, members of the State Legislature recognize exceptional women in their district with a celebration commemorating their efforts.
